Farmers visit summer wheat – pea trial on the Organic Field day in Lelystad

WUR-PAGV hosted the Organic Field day on the research station in Lelystad, The Netherlands.

On June 21st WUR-PAGV hosted the Organic Field day on the research station in Lelystad, The Netherlands. There was a diverse program which attracted over 600 farmers and other interested parties from the agricultural sector.

During the day, machinery demonstrations and excursions to on-site field trials took place. The strip cropping trial (summer wheat – dry pea) was part of the Field day and attracted the attention of many visitors. Conventional and organic farmers discussed the potentials of strip cropping for their farming system and were highly curious of the results of strip cropping in terms of yield, below ground interactions and pest and disease pressure.
