German MAP Field visit on June 19th, organized by Kassel university

A field visit was organized on June 19th by the University of Kassel, at Neu Eichenberg Field Station

On June 19th, Kassel University organized a field day at the research station in Neu Eichenberg. Over 100 visitors experienced a rich program of presentations, field visits, lively debates and face-to-face networking. Presentations were given for example on regenerative agriculture as an alternative system to glyphosate based systems including controversial but inspiring discussions on the topic. Another topic was the potential of false flax – pea mixtures introduced by Dr. Helmut Saucke. The Remix project was presented by Prof. Maria Finckh with a focus on the multi-actor approach inviting visitors to participate and shift the boundaries of mixture cultivation in practice. The field visits covered inter alia mixtures of triticale – pea, regenerative potato systems and evolutionary breeding in wheat. Concluding from face-to-face discussions it seems that farmers are already experimenting a lot with mixtures. This creativity and motivation will be a rich source for the German multi-actor platform.
