video library intercropping

ReMIX project starts to build up a video library on intercropping

As the project goes on and the trials in the different Multiactor Platforms start to give their first results, partners are producing didactical pieces of videos to disseminate acquired knowledge among farmers, advisors, students and other stakeholders.

A YouTube channel has been put in place to host these videos. What can you find in the channel so far?

  • "Crop Mixtures: a way to reduce herbicides. ReMIX Wheat Lentil Trial". (France)

The video was recorded on the 2nd of August 2019 by François GAILLOT (marketing department from Terrena) in a farm of the French MAP. The two farm owners in the video were involved in the lentil/wheat field trial carried out by Maureen STADEL (R&D department from Terrena).

  • "Post-harvest grain separation after growing species mixtures". (Spain)

The video shows how an organic farmer from Navarra separates his yield after growing a mixture of wheat and lentil. He uses a screening equipment to separate firstly the wheat and afterwards the lentil from impurities. Finally, to remove stones from lentils a gravity separator is utilized. The post-harvest grain separation was a big problem in the organic sector in the region of Navarra. This farmer, the owner of the equipment and an INTIA technician set up the equipment.

  • "Mixed cultures peas/barley - Does it need its own breeding?". (Switzerland)

This video presents Benedikt Haug (FiBL) on the question: Do we need our own breeding for mixed crops? Or is it enough to combine the best available varieties with each other? Benedikt Haug combines a large set of European pea varieties with various European barley varieties in the field trials of the Swiss MAP. In the video he reports on the first results.

More will come soon. Please suscribe to ReMIX channel and help us disseminate what we are learning! Here is the link: https://bit.ly/2S1CROW
